I am delighted to take up the role of President of the West Midlands Branch of the National Association of Retired Firefighters (NARF). NARF plays a vital role as a voice for pensioners and their dependants, and as a source of support and camaraderie.
As Chief Fire Officer I will have a particular focus on looking after and developing our staff to ensure that they are best prepared to serve the diverse communities of the West Midlands Fire Service.
This commitment to our people of course extends to our retired staff members, a key part of our fire service family.
We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who have previously served in WMFS, often having worked when conditions were challenging and support networks were less defined.
The professionalism that the NARF committee demonstrate in all their work on behalf of the association, pensioners and their families is evident, and I know it is greatly appreciated.
I remain committed to supporting the association in their efforts, and to improving the service we provide to pensioners. I look forward to working with the committee to delivering on that commitment.
